Description

This workshop will support participants to add role-play in the classroom as a tool in their pedagogical and facilitation toolboxes. Role-play provides the opportunity to bridge theory and practice and to support students to learn about complex topics through an embodied experience. At the same time, role-play risks alienating students uncomfortable with public speaking or improvisation. Considerations of equity and accessibility are central to the use of this practice. By the end of this workshop, participants will have an understanding of the constraints and possibilities of role-play in the classroom and will have the opportunity to consider through practice how to bring role-play into their own classroom. No acting or facilitation experience is needed to attend this workshop.
