Centre for Teaching Support & Innovation, 130 St. George Street, Robarts Library, 4th floor
With academic publishers and companies such as Top Hat charging students, researchers, and universities to access learning materials, it can be difficult to identify and access the materials that best support our teaching and learning goals. This workshop is designed for teaching assistants and course instructors across the disciplines who want to learn how to navigate and utilize open access journals, free-license resources like GitHub, and other similar resources such as lesson and module builders. This workshop will clarify common jargon and licensing issues related to open educational resources (OER), provide resources to work with openly-available OER as well as fee-based OER, and will discuss pedagogical approaches to effectively use of OER in courses and tutorials.
