Are you interested in understanding racial discrimination in the learning environment and deepen your practices? Come and join us for a workshop that explores strategies to develop and incorporate an anti-racist pedagogy in your teaching practice. Learn about race-related terms and definitions outlined with in the Ontario Human Rights Code and various University of Toronto policies. Be able to identify manifestations of racial harassment and their impact on the individual and the learning environment. Understand institutional process and the role of the Anti-Racism & Cultural Diversity office in responding to instances of racial harassment.
In this session, participants will:
• Increase understanding of the roles and responsibilities of Teaching Assistants and the University to prevent and address racial discrimination in the learning environment.
• Enhance awareness of race-related challenges and pitfalls that are experienced in the learning environment.
• Discuss strategies to develop and incorporate an anti-racist pedagogy in one’s practice.
