Oral presentations are a very good gauge of students’ understanding of course content as well as their ability to communicate ideas effectively. As TAs, we are responsible for grading and providing feedback on both of these aspects. However, at times, we may not know which to focus on or what to look for in a presentation. In this workshop, we will delve into the key principles of effective oral presentations and develop strategies to grade presentations fairly and provide feedback that can actually help improve our students’ communication skills. Considering the importance of presentation skills in academic and professional success, TAs can benefit from this workshop as both educators and learners.
