Teaching Assistants' Training Program

This is a 4-hour session for first-contract TAs

4 hours of general pedagogical training: 9:30am – 1:30pm

This session will include topics such as University of Toronto Policies around teaching, classroom management, professionalism, grading and other important information for first contract TAs

All departments may allow TAs to use this four-hour session as their paid mandatory training (per the collective agreement between C.U.P.E. 3902 and the University of Toronto – CUPE 3902 UNIT 1 PAID TRAINING REQUEST FORM). The procedure for using the CUPE 3902 Unit 1 Paid Training Request Form is as follows:

1. Download the CUPE 3902 UNIT 1 PAID TRAINING REQUEST FORM from your union website at: http://www.cupe3902.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Training-Request-Form.pdf
2. Fill out this form and have it signed by your department BEFORE you attend the session. In most cases, the course coordinator, teaching assistant coordinator or business officer in your hiring department has the authority to sign this form.
3. Bring your form with you to the session and ask the presenter to sign it. The presenter will only sign your form AFTER the session.
4. Submit the completed form to your department so that your department knows to process your pay for meeting the training requirement.
