Being a TA can be incredibly rewarding, whether it is engaging with students and supporting their growth as learners or strengthening your abilities as an educator. Whether you facilitate discussions during tutorials, supervise labs, grade papers, or support instructors in creating a sense of community as everyone adjusts to online learning environments, TA-ships can also offer unique professional development opportunities to strengthen various transferrable skills as a graduate student. In this roundtable discussion, we will be reflecting on past teaching experiences to share and identify common transferrable skills we gain as teachers. Furthermore, we will discuss strategies for leveraging future teaching experiences during this unprecedented time to gain new, or strengthen existing, skill sets.
