Centre for Teaching Support & Innovation, 130 St. George Street, Robarts Library, 4th floor
As a helper in our community it is important to know how to support someone who is experiencing a mental health challenge.
In this workshop, we will discuss what it might look when supporting someone who is experiencing a mental health challenge in the context of your role as a TA. We will discuss some of the resources available to students, how to make these referrals, and the reporting protocols that exist within our spaces. This workshop enables individuals to apply skills acquired through the online Identify, Assist, Refer training to their unique context using case studies, boundary setting exercises, role plays, and other activities.
To prepare for this training, we would like everyone to have a baseline understanding of mental health and the IAR model. Please complete the Identify, Assist, Refer online module (https://iar.utoronto.ca/main/) as a prerequisite for IAR+ Training. The training module takes about 30 minutes to complete and participants will be issued a certificate confirming completion.
