Across the sciences, social sciences, and humanities, grading can often be a challenging practice that requires significant interpretation. This workshop will consider: how can TAs grade and provide feedback in ways that support a growth mindset and engage with equity principles? Exploring the dynamic relationship between grading and equity, facilitators and participants will examine effective strategies for mitigating possibilities of unconscious bias in marking assignments. As well, the discussion will consider constructive strategies for grading equitably in relation to course aims, rubrics, and assignment expectations. Using case studies, it will focus in on best practices for reviewing and providing feedback on assignments, particularly for multilingual language learners (MLL) and English language learners (ELL). More generally, participants will reflect on how to create a supportive atmosphere through growth mindset-oriented feedback strategies. In sum, this workshop will highlight the core strategies and considerations for grading with equity and access in mind
